CONTROLLABLES VS NON-CONTROLLABLES
I believe we are all fighting a battle in one way or another. And no one person’s battle is the same.
This battle could be of many types - physical, mental, emotional, financial, or even our own health.
This battle can take place at home, at work, at school or inside our own minds and/or body.
Regardless of the “who, what, where, when, why or how”, we all have that one thing that proves to impede our progress. It may or may not be constant. It may only present itself at the most inopportune time. But it is there, nonetheless.
It is up to us to overcome these battles. Without overcoming them, we cannot become the OUR best version or achieve all that we set out to in life.
I also believe that there are some circumstances in life that are outside of our control. Sometimes, in certain moments throughout our lives, we will be dealt a bad hand.
That being said, concentrating on what is outside our control will only bring about worry, anxiety and fear. There ends up being more focus on the outcome, not achieving that outcome or what could go wrong. More often than not, there is a negative mindset that tags along for the ride. It will be hard to move us forward in any positive direction. We feel stuck, hopeless and loneliness. We may even become bitter and resentful.
On the other hand, focusing on what we CAN control will prove to be different! It really boils down to our own self. Start with YOU and work your way outward. By doing so we can ACT on tangible factors within our circumstance. That way we can choose to correct or at least improve one variable at a time to objectively increase our chances in WINNING.
So, what can we control? I believe it comes down to these factors:
· MINDSET – Keep a positive mental attitude in all situations – from the time your feet hit the ground until your head hits the pillow
· BEHAVIORS – Treat yourself and others with respect and with the best intentions in mind. Do your actions match up to the goals you have?
· WORK ETHIC – Be relentless in your capacity to do QUALITY work at whatever task is in front of you. Whether it’s brushing your teeth or giving a stellar presentation – ensure your work is of a quality you’re proud of
My question to you: How well equipped are you to confront YOUR unique battle with confidence and WIN so that you WILL be your best?
